Description
“An Architectural Ruby Shaped by Urban Metamorphosis”
Although the ruby was not the original concept that inspired the building's design, the structure bears a strong resemblance to it.
A ruby is formed deep within the earth under intense pressure and high temperatures, creating a strong and pure crystalline structure. In architecture, this process can be compared to the formation of a building, where layers, structural systems, and carefully crafted materials come together to create a durable, functional, and distinctive form—a "crystal" constructed within the urban context.
Concept explanation
- Setback from the electrical transmission lines crossing the site. Preservation of the building line along the primary street frontage. Creation of the base triangular form. The volume is then elevated to 22 storeys, forming a prism with two equal sides.
- The building's functions are differentiated by dividing it into four functional zones. The first division begins at the height where the surrounding buildings terminate. The second division defines the uppermost portion of the tower, emphasizing and creating the building's "crown."
- The functional divisions are rotated to create a stronger expression of the building's program while simultaneously establishing a new identity for the area.
